US Navy picks Radiant’s Kaleidos for Naval Weapons Station Crane
It will be the Navy’s first shore-based advanced microreactor and Indiana’s first power reactor.
Radiant’s Kaleidos, a factory-built 1 MW high-temperature gas-cooled microreactor, has been selected for Naval Weapons Station Crane in Indiana under the Janus Program for defence installations.
The reactor can run for up to five years between refuellings over a 20-year life. Before deployment comes design refinement, environmental review and site preparation, and no date has been set. With the Army and Air Force already on board, Radiant is now the only company selected by all three US military departments.
