Turkey and South Korea sign nuclear financing pact
Korea’s export-import bank will work with Turkey’s state nuclear company on funding new plants.
Türkiye Nuclear Energy Company (TÜNAŞ) and the Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM) signed a memorandum on financing nuclear power plants during President Erdoğan’s visit to Seoul. The two sides will also set up a working group to share information.
Seoul said cooperation on the planned Sinop plant on Turkey’s Black Sea coast is progressing, including site evaluation work. Turkey’s first plant, Rosatom’s four-unit, 4,800 MWe Akkuyu, is due to be fully operating by the end of 2028.
